Sitting
between the engineer and captain are the controls for many of Engine 1's
functions. Visible in this photo are (top) headsets that dampen noise from
the engine and siren. The front headsets are also wired into the radio, to
allow for easy communication with dispatch. The radios are mounted on a swivel in the center of the dashboard. To the left of the radios is the siren control. To the right of the radios is the control box of for the headsets and intercom system. Below the radio are the controls for emergency lighting, the on-board generator and the drop-down ladder rack mounted on the officer's side of the rig.
