We thank you for your interest in joining the Maumelle Fire Department. We currently utilize both career and volunteer personnel to provide services to the citizens of our community.

Career Positions
The City of Maumelle utilizes a civil service firefighter entrance exam to establish a hiring eligibility list for the Maumelle Fire Department. This general-knowledge test is offered in the spring of most years.

The application period for the 2007 test ended on March 5, 2008. For more information about the hiring process, including a full list of job requirements and a list of frequently asked questions about the employment process, CLICK HERE.

Applicants for career positions must:
> Be at least 21 years of age and not more than 32 years of age.
> Have a high school diploma or equivalent
> Have no felony convictions.

Annual salary begins at $25,503 with an increase to $26,135 after six months and to $29,199 after one year. The current top pay for this position, which is achieved after eight years, is $40,793. This position also includes an excellent benefits package. The City of Maumelle is an equal opportunity employer.

Volunteer Positions
With a minimum staffing of only three career firefighters on duty at a time, our volunteer firefighting division is an integral part of our organization. We are currently interested in expanding our roster of volunteer firefighters, which are actually paid a small stipend for responding to calls and attending twice-monthly training meetings.

Volunteer firefighters are summoned via radio pagers for calls that have the potential to exceed the capabilities of the on-duty staff. In 2007, the department handled more than 1,200 requests for service ranging from building fires to lifting assistance calls. Of those, the volunteer division was paged to respond an average of three times a week.

Applicants should be at least 18 years of age, have a high school diploma or equivalent and have no felony convictions. Previous firefighting experience is not required.

Interested applicants should be willing to provide:
> A desire for service to the community.
> An eagerness to learn new things.
> Willingness to respond to calls whenever available.
> Attendance at training meetings twice a month.

Maumelle Fire Department will provide:
> All required protective equipment.
> Necessary firefighting, emergency medical & hazardous materials training.
> Radio pager.
> Quarterly stipend for response to calls and training attendance.

Interested persons should contact Chief George Glenn at (501) 851-1337 or visit our station at 100 Millwood Circle during normal business hours.
