The sculpture includes four figures -- a historical firefighter, whose hose will serve as a fountain when the memorial is complete; a modern firefighter; a wildland firefighter and a female firefighter providing medical aid to an infant. The four statues not only represent the evolution of the state's fire service from the time of the first line of duty death in 1889 but also the diverse services provided by firefighters.
