| Engine 2
is a 1996 Pierce Quantum pumper. This rig was purchased from the Travis County
Emergency Services District in Pflugerville, Texas in July 2007 and placed
in service as Maumelle's reserve pumper three months later. It replaced a
1994 E-One Hush pumper that had experienced a growing number of mechanical
concerns. Engine 2 carries 1,000 gallons of water, two 1.75" pre-connected crosslay hoselines, a 2.5" pre-connected hoseline as well as a supply of five-inch supply hose. In addition to the compliment of firefighting equipment, Engine 2 carries a full set of TNT hydraulic rescue tools (commonly referred to as the Jaws of Life) and a set of Rescue-Q-Jack struts used to stabilize vehicles involved in collisions. Engine 2 also carries basic life support equipment for use on emergency medical responses. Engine 2 is a reserve rig and is typically not staffed by firefighters. However, when five career firefighters are on duty, Engine 2 may be placed in active service with at least two members to respond to emergencies in addition to or in rotation with Engine 1. When not staffed, Engine 2 is used to fill in for apparatus out of service or on an incident-specific basis. |
