after emptying the cabinets of food and supplies. BOTTOM: After three
months of renovation, the kitchen and living quarters barely resemble their
previous design.

Bullard & Nichols (out of picture) remove the cabinets that had been
located over the bar & stove. BOTTOM: In a design created by Maumelle
firefighters, the renovation saw the kitchen wall removed and the door area
filled with cabinets & counter space.

Engineers Michael Cossey (right), Nichols & Bullard unscrew the mounting
brackets for the cabinets above the stove. BOTTOM: The new design
saw no ceiling-mounted cabinets between the kitchen area and dayroom to create
a larger, more open space.

firefighters decided that their new quarters needed to have a more open design.
