BEFORE & AFTER: On the right, Mitchell Taylor is a ninth-grader from Academics Plus Charter School in Maumelle. On the left, classmate James Tipton is fully bunked out member of Maumelle Fire-Rescue. Both were member's of Sean Barron's ninth-grade class at Academics Plus Charter School and were assigned to spend the day with Maumelle Fire-Rescue.

Each of the students donned bunker gear -- the protective boots, pants, coat & helmet worn by firefighters. Pictured here is Tipton, the son of Kevin & Leslie Tipton of Maumelle.

Each of our Firefighters For a Day had the opportunity to wear the self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) that firefighters use to breath clean air in hazardous environments. They donned the facemask and experienced what it was like to breath air from the unit. Pictured is Mitchell Taylor, son of Marilee Taylor, of Maumelle.

Maumelle Public Safety Dispatcher (and honorary C-Shift grillmaster) Adam Swalls came in four hours before his 3-11 p.m. shift to grill burgers for Engine 1's crew.
