Federal Q

Engine 1's front bumper features a first for the Maumelle Fire Department -- a Federal Q electro-mechancial siren. The wail of the Federal Q is so synonymous with fire apparatus that its sound has been trademarked by Federal Signal Corporation, manufacturer of the Q. In addition to serving as a piece of fire service tradition, the Federal Q is a very effective warning device.
