Engine 1
is a 2006 Smeal custom pumper on a Spartan chassis. This rig was delivered
in April 2006 and went into service April 24. Engine 1 carries 500 gallons
of water, three 1.75" pre-connected hoselines, two 2.5" pre-connected hoselines
and 800 feet of five-inch supply hose. In addition to the compliment of firefighting equipment, Engine 1 carries a full set of TNT hydraulic rescue tools (commonly referred to as the Jaws of Life), a set of air bags for lifting heavy objects, and small tools used in rescue situations. Engine 1 is also equipped with a set of Rescue-Q-Jack struts used to stabilize vehicles involved in collisions. Engine 1 carries emergency medical gear and an automated external defibrillator (AED) for use on emergency medical responses. Engine 1 is equipped with seating for six, but normal staffing is 2 or 3 personnel -- a company officer, an engineer and one firefighter. |
